Male Pale Craze
For menswear, neutrals are the ageless tradition that grasps firmly on the past as well as complementing the many variations of the seasons to come, simultaneously. Neutrals are now taking the center stage and a wide range of pale hues continue to impact most markets due to its versatility and the ease with which it can be paired up with a myriad of other prominent hues. It is an essential color that brings a level of refined sophistication to basic silhouettes and designs.
This years spring is dominated by the ‘golden cork’ neutral, a unique shade that can be mixed comfortably with other shades. Although you might be quite accustomed to reaching for a white tee and a pair of chinos, that accessible contemporary look can still be preserved even after a neutral hue has been thrown in the mix.
Earth tone neutrals are an all-year-round pastel, and are arguably even more versatile than the top-to-bottom monochrome look. Lighter shades of brown, mixed with some richer colors like burnt orange and shades of blue gives a distinctive blend of color and contrast. And to dial down the formality, mixing chinos trousers with white crew neck tee and some easy-going trainers, will suffice, while limiting the toning to two items, with one piece out of the pale neutral range.
For the more conservative guys among us, you should try a soft grey knit or jersey shirt under a blazer and some grey pants. Although a solid grey look could get sloppy if the proper fabrics and prints aren’t mixed up properly, but you can still give off that minimal and modern look, and still look flashy. Just make sure to pay attention to textures and details.
Its time to put the dark colors on the back seat and let the pale palettes like sand and caramel take the center stage; afterall, its just as versatile and much less gloomy.
